Supermarket Savings: Use this app to save you money – WKYC.com
The Ibotta app is accepted at many local retailers.
CLEVELAND — All week we’ve teamed up with coupon expert Rachel Krych on ways to save you money at the grocery store. She’s shared various tips, but the one thing she recommends the most is getting familiar with the Ibotta app.
“Ibotta specifically works by choosing the store you want to shop in, choosing the offers you want to buy, and then that money after you buy it, getting deposited back into your account,” Krych says.
The app is accepted at most local retailers. You will specifically see it advertised on registers at Marc’s, for example.
“The first thing you want to do is download the app, and when you go into the store, you’ll choose the store you’re shopping at, and you can browse through the offers,” Krych breaks down. “What’s nice about Ibotta is they have it chunked by different things. So they’ll have what’s new, dairy meat, and things like that.”

She shares examples of recent purchases she was able to save money on. Understandably, being a mom of three, many of them are easy-made meals for her family, which many of us are shopping for right now.
“Just yesterday I was able to get a free Red Baron pizza. It was $4.49 and I got $4.49 back with the Ibotta app.”
She also mentions what she calls the trifecta to save you the most money.
“Another deal that I got, was Super Pretzels. So what’s really nice is when you can find the trifecta (which means items will be on sale) and they’ll be a coupon, and there’s an Ibotta offer. For instance, Giant Eagle had Super Pretzels on sale buy one get one free, which made them about $2 a box. Then I had a dollar-off coupon, which made them a dollar a box. Then Ibotta was offering me an extra dollar for every box I bought, so that meant free pretzels! So one of my favorites, and hey it goes with our free pizza.”

To get your money back, Krych explains you don’t even need to use it on just groceries.
“When you want to cash out on your Ibotta app, what you’ll want to do is you want to make sure you have at least $20 and that way you can choose what you want to cash out,” she says. “You can choose PayPal, multiple gift cards and some of the gift cards are like Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Regal. Or you can now connect it to your bank account, and that money will go straight to your bank account.”
